We will miss you, Evie-baby, RIP

Wednesday, Februrary 27 - It is with heavy heart to post that we lost Ashlee's mom, Evelyn, today.  She fought long and hard over the years overcoming becoming an early widow, a kidney transplant, raising two teenage daughters on her own, brushes with cancer, an aortic dissection, a bowel perforation and numerous other medical issues.  But through it all, she always had a smile and a love for her family that was second to none.  We are going to miss you so much, Evie-baby.

This is still one of my favorite shots of us from Valentine's Day a few years ago.  Evelyn was a big part of our life that we post on this blog.  She was always game for an adventure with us within her abilities.  She always supported me and Ashlee through our life decisions that directly affected her as well:  moving away from Nashville, choosing not to have children, and traveling to far-away places.  She never criticized us and while I am sure it worried her at times, she never really let on that it did, but instead just made sure we knew she loved us and that we were to "just be careful."

Saturday, March 3 - Evelyn's visitation, service and burial today went smooth and was actually quite nice.  Ashlee and Paige choose Rogers Funeral Home over in South Pittsburg and they did a great professional job with everything.  The visitation and service were at their larger Jasper location and had a huge attendance with friends and family from far and wide.  The burial at the picturesque Stateline Cemetary over in the Shellmound area of Nickajack lake is very close to where Evelyn was born and raised.  She now rests near her mother, father and brother, Jimmy, who we lost back in 2013.

Some of our friends and family gathered with us afterwards at Edley's BBQ in Chattanooga for dinner and a celebration of the life of Evelyn.  A special thanks to our friends Danny, Brenda and John for making the trip from Nashville.  Danny and Brenda also picked up the bill for dinner and drinks which we greatly appreciate.
